Start a Blog: Work From Anywhere

Blogging…. oh how awesome it can be. Do you feel stuck, caged, shackled down? Do you feel like you just want more out of life? Do you feel like your freedom is gone except for on the weekends?

Don’t worry man, I am with ya. I did the things that I was supposed to do… you know, went to school, got my B.S. degree, got a career. Then I landed in a cubical. Yep, a grey cubical sitting behind a desk ALL DAY LONG.

Now, my co-workers were awesome, my job paid super well, had amazing benefits, and ability to climb the ladder, but there was just something that didn’t feel right. I felt stuck… controlled… bored… drained. I felt like my freedom was taken from me. Like I just couldn’t do anything I wanted to do except for on the weekend.

I only got 2 weeks of vacation to start and then gained 3 weeks after 5 years of time spent. Yes, only 2 freaking weeks of vacation! WTF? What kind of life is that really? That means you only get 2 weeks out of the entire freaking year to live the way you actually want to live. The rest of the time you have to spend it doing what someone else wants you to do. If this is not crazy then I really do not know what is.

Day in and day out I fantasized about being a gypsy. I wanted to roam the United States, adventure around, create fun Youtube videos with tons of Photography tips and tricks. I wanted to help other entrepreneurs start their business and live the life of their dream; however, I never had time to actually pursue it, because yep… you guessed it, I was working for someone else. Freaking SUCK!

Now, this cubical life just wasn’t working for me what so ever! Like umm… no thank you sir there is more to life then this grey cubical crap.

So, one day, I started a business. Yep, Bessie Young Photography was created. With that business came my blog. Yep, the blog that you are reading. Now, this business was started on the side. Everything I did.. my videos, my posts, my tips, my photos, my everything was created during the evening and weekend. It’s stressful, yes, but man is it worth it in the end.

Why did I go through all of this? Well for many reasons.

  • First and foremost I wanted to help other people. I seriously don’t want people to think that they have to live a life that they don’t want to live.

  • I wanted to live my best life.

  • I wanted to have freedom

  • I didn’t want to miss out on any more family get-to-gethers.

  • I wanted to be my own boss

  • And the list goes on and on and on and on.

So, today that is what I am doing. I am creating a blog for all the reasons. You can live a life of your dreams, you just have to freaking work for it.

Well, I do quite a few different things to do so.

  1. I sell my lightroom presets

  3. I use affiliate links

  4. I sell coffee mugs and other fun photography stuff on my BYP Shop

  5. I run photography workshops and promote them via my blog
